Our Team

Our dedicated team here in our Seattle studio - here’s to another successful game launch!

  • Mitchell (Mitch) Mitchell, Co-Founder & CEO

Mitch started making games on the Commodore 64 his parents gave him for Christmas at the ripe old age of 12. His first game, “Bobby’s Boat Adventure,” was distributed to his classmates, who freaking loved it.  It went on to win 2nd place at his middle school’s Invention Day. Who’s laughing now, Dylan? Certainly not you and your solar-powered toothbrush!

Mitch launched Throwback Games with Dave Lewis, who he met at the Seattle Yacht Club, in 2014 and the rest is history. He launched Throwback Games to push the boundaries of what can be done in games, both graphically and narratively. Maybe you were one of the 750,000+ people who bought “Yacht Simulator”. It’s no wonder TBG is consistently a top gaming company, according to WASD Gamer Magazine, claiming top prize two years in a row for “Yacht Racer” and the expansion, “Yacht Smuggler.” If you don’t see Mitch at the office, he’s likely on his Yacht, which he named Commodore 69. Shout out to his kids -  Blaze, Starburst, Nova, and Mike.

  • Dave Davidson, Co-Founder and CFO

For the past 10 years, Dave has found himself proudly leading the charge at Throwback Games inc. Prior to becoming Throwback Games’ CEO, Dave has collaborated with some of the greatest minds in businesses all over the world. Dave knows how to create a work environment that thrives to the point where he could stay at home while others prosper!

Throwback Games marks Dave’s first CFO position and he has inspired many Throwback Games employees to think outside the box. In fact, many Throwback Games employees (with Dave’s help) have gone off to pursue their own dreams outside of this company. Dave does not just want a successful company full of employees, but he wants a family that spreads across the globe and also makes money. Through his variety of experiences and brilliant mind, Dave is able to apply his expertise and change the landscape of 8-bit gaming for years to come.

  • Jey Williams, Game Developer

Jey Williams is a three-time WASD award-winning game developer and worked on the influential “Yacht Racer” and “Yacht Smuggler” for Throwback Games.

Originally from Olympia, as an only child Jey fell in love with games from a young age, when their mom bought them The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was through Legend of Zelda that Jey developed a love of 1980s 8-bit games.

  • Mary Sugar, Junior Producer

This is Mary Sugar’s first position in video games. Previously, she worked as a manager in toy fabrication. In her spare time, Mary likes to make cookies and drink hot chocolate!

  • Gary Plum, Junior Producer

A lifelong fan of games, Gary is so excited to be at Throwback Games supporting whoever needs to be supported!

Gary is from up North and misses snow.

  • Maggie Madden, Project Manager

Maggie has been creative since she was a child, organizing craft fairs in her middle school. She attended Washington State University and studied comparative literature, and spent her twenties (and thirties) working in coffee shops around town. She is thrilled to be working in the video game industry now as a project manager, which feels like spinning a hundred plates. Exciting!

  • Brad Jones, HR Manager

Brad has worked as a recruiter in games for 10 years. During his time at Throwback Games, he has been able to grow in his experience and skills by taking on new tasks outside of his comfort zone. He has met, and laid off, some of the area’s most talented games workers. Brad feels blessed to have a job in this challenging time!
